How do I sign a PDF on my iPhone without printing it?

Make sure you have the actual PDF file. You might have received it through Mail, Messages, Files, a Safari download, or another app.

If tapping the document opens only a preview inside another app, use the available Share, or Open in / Save to Files, option so you can work with the PDF using the iPhone’s document tools.

Open the Preview app and open the PDF.

If the PDF opens from Files or another supported Apple app, the signing and Markup tools may also be available directly there.

The practical goal is simple: get the PDF open on the iPhone, then use Apple’s built-in signing tools.

For a PDF form in Preview, use the form-filling and annotation controls, then choose Add → Add Signature.

If you are using Markup in a supported app, choose Markup → Add → Add Signature.

Use your finger to sign your name. If the signature does not look right, tap Clear and try again. When you are satisfied, tap Done.
